So any ideas or just the way these machines are? One reason for getting a new Ryzen was that it has lower TDP than my old laptop but it seems they also went with worse heat handling also which negates the benefits.Diese Seite wurde mit Genehmigung von troubadix von dessen Homepage übernommen, bevor sie abgeschaltet wird Then two minutes later it's back to blasting fans and trying to get it below 50C. So it feels like there's something very weird going on with the cooling system. Allows CPU to go to 75C even and no sound. Sometimes it's fine being quiet and fanless. Keep it passive, only when actually needed boost. So there should be no reason to keep boosting while just using a browser and a couple of programs in the background. CPU load fluctuates 1-3% and power usage is 3-4W (from Open Hardware Monitor). I'm literally at the moment writing this in a browser, have Discord open, nothing else, and it's all the time jumping four cores to 4.2GHz, temperature is high and fans are half speed. ![]() I have put power options to passive mode etc etc but nothing changes. I can of course say "never boost" to it and it stays quiet but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a powerful processor since then it's at 1.8GHz all the time. No matter what I do with it it's like "oh I have to keep boosting some cores all the time and keep fan running." Temperatures are around 65C, which is the reason for the fan keeping up. ![]() If I use it on battery it's very silent and nice. Anyone else have the machine and can confirm or have better experiences? I've had the Lenovo Ideapad 5 4800U for some time now and even though I like it, it has one issue: it's loud.
